PINS + UPDATES || DAYDREAMING

the problem with moving around so frequently and constantly living in a state of well-when-we-have-our-own-house is that you never feel fully nested. quite honestly, I feel like I'm always in transition, which is quite adventurous, but not always very cozy. queue pinterest. pinterest is where I live out my nesting dreams and envision what (I hope) my life will be like in the future. I'm pretty sure pinterest was designed for just this purpose and then someone was like, "hey, let's throw in some funny e-cards and some artsy boards to make it interesting." so with that said, here are a few things I'm daydreaming about.

001 :: a rural life. going off to college, my dad gave me some advice. he said, "ari, watch out for those idaho boys. you are not farm stock." now, I don't know what farm stock is, but I'm assuming he was saying that I wouldn't fare well if given the opportunity to live on a farm. mitch still laughs over this since I so desperately want a little acreage where I can have animals, lots of peonies, and a little orchard and where he can have a nice big lawn to mow. and I totally see myself wearing a pair of dirty hunter wellies (in navy) to tend to all of my lovely plants and chickens.

002 :: fall in love with your life. this statement is obviously the end-all-be-all dream.

003 :: a beautiful vanity. a place all my own to primp and get ready with beautiful smells put on display. a much more appealing option compared to mitch and I having to constantly step around each other in the bathroom. even with double sinks, there isn't enough room! such is being a girl.

004 :: a local market. I love the idea of purchasing all of my herbs fresh from a local market. buying local is just so much more personal and so much better for the environment. plus, I always like the idea of knowing who my money is going to.

005 :: homemade everything. there's just something so satisfying and decadent about getting your hands a little dirty and creating everything from scratch. and the beauty of homemade things is that they're often just the right amount of imperfect.

006 :: yogi mom. I totally want to be one of those moms who drops their kids off at school and then hits the yoga studio. I think I'll probably need that practice even more then.

007 :: a daily uniform of comfy sweaters. paired with wunder unders and these adorable boots. I talk a big game about fashion and wearing the newest trends by the most elegant brands, but I will probably stick to these staples even then.

008 :: crafts with my kids (and I want a bunch of them). and I hope one day, we just sit down and color all over paper bags and wear them on our heads while we fix dinner. we'll even make one for mitch while he's off being a doctor of some sort and then when he gets home, we'll just sit around the table with paper bags on our heads. I picture it being absolutely adorable even if it makes eating a little difficult.

009 :: fresh blooms. preferably grown from my own garden. they add such a sense of permanence to life. which doesn't make a whole lot of sense since their lifespan is so temporary. there's just something about flowers that enrich one's quality of life. and I want them everywhere in my dream home.

disclaimer :: please, don't get me wrong. in no way am I dissatisfied with my life. just yesterday, mitch and I were discussing how amazing our life together is as we were laying by the pool reading our respective novels. it doesn't get much better than that. I just wouldn't want to rend pinterest useless by being completely satisfied just yet ;)

happy wednesday, everyone! as always, thanks for reading!

  1. i can definitely relate to that "never feeling fully nested" - i daydream about what our house will look like one day and how we will make it a home. like you say though, it's not about being dissatisfied with life now, it's about looking towards the future with excitement and hope. i love you "pinspirations"! ;)

  5. OK, so you totally cracked me up with the paper bag headdress and the idea of trying to eat dinner with the bag on your head. I just hope I'm there to enjoy 1) Mitch's reaction to his very own paper bag; and 2) the spectacle of eating dinner with said bag on one's head. Can't wait!

    1. mitch is such a good sport with my antics. thankfully, he probably wouldn't be surprised coming home to a paper bag or having to wear it all through dinner.
