well, hullo there, august! I know summertime is a fan-favorite around the blogosphere. but if we're all being honest ( and we usually are round these parts ), I am oh so partial to autumn and august just signals that we are one month closer to september 23rd. not that I'll really get to celebrate autumn whilst living on a caribbean island. however, knowing that all of you are going to be sipping on hot apple cider and carving pumpkins and, later, baking with all of their byproducts is comforting to me nonetheless. earlier this week, I rambled on and on about actually being busy and a little worried that I wouldn't get everything done. and yeah, no. I didn't. but I have decided to adopt the island's philosophy and put it off till tomorrow. regardless of the hustle and bustle of this week, I was still able to find ten things that absolutely melted my heart. queue the awesome intro music ::
001 :: a lady at church telling me I had tiny feet. they have always been one of those body parts I've been self-conscious about. so much so, they used to cause me endless anxiety in high school. crazy, right? they're just feet. needless to say, I was beyond flattered and a little caught off guard when a lady stopped me in the hall to tell me that my feet were tiny and cute.
002 :: the bachelorette finale. I was pleasantly surprised by the winner. I never thought it possible, but the girls down here made a bachelorette fan out of me. I'm still all aghast she let chris the farmer go, though. talk about the one that got away.
003 :: runner's high. it is about time. for the last couple of weeks, I've been struggling through the endless miles and felt like it would never come. like I was broken or something. but tuesday, it finally showed up and l am loving all of the inspiration that comes between that point where you feel untouchable and elated and the point of boredom.
004 :: a rainy afternoon. mitch and I went for a little stroll right as it decided to rain. instead of calling it and running back inside, we kept on our trek out onto the beach and played around on the rocks. very romantic, if you ask us.
005 :: fresh tomatoes. topped with a little bit of flaky salt. truly the most wonderful summer snack of all time.
006 :: modern family, season three hitting netflix. we fell for this show when we first got here and were pretty deflated when we found out only two seasons were available to stream. so when I noticed that season three was up, we quickly had a binge session and we're already through, which has caused a minor bout of post-show depression. will we ever learn?
p.s. that season finale totally got me. the grandpa dancing with his granddaughter on stage? awwww-dorable.
007 :: mitch turning on the a/c in the middle of the night. he woke up wide awake at about four thursday morning to find me sprawled out and looking hot ( not in a good way ). so despite our pledge not to use it, he climbed out of bed and turned on the a/c for me. seriously the most thoughtful guy ever. and it allowed me to bundle up for an hour or so which never happens down here.
008 :: not leaving my credit card at the grocery store. in all actuality, I did, in fact, leave my credit card at the grocery store till. but luckily, I was only gone five minutes before a clerk walked it out to my car. there are good people everywhere. I probably wouldn't have even noticed it missing until next week's grocery adventure and then the hardcore nervous wreckage would have ensued and I'm just really grateful to have bypassed all that. thank you grocery store clerk, from the bottom of my heart.
009 :: mitch singing a whale of a tale from 20,000 leagues under the sea. I've actually never seen this movie or heard this song and he had to show me he wasn't just making up this silly tune. it's just so cute to watch him sing it. he looks like a little boy pronouncing two like two-oooooo.
010 :: getting paid. it's so good to feel like I'm a productive person again. seven months without work at my young and childless age is just too long.
I've mentioned it before about a gazillion times, but coming up in august, I'm running lululemon's seawheeze ( woot woot ). fitness and nutrition have always sort of been hanging in the background of this blog and I don't mean to go all fitness blogger on you, but I definitely want to delve into running and why we run as well as food and how we eat. and about how amazing and resilient our bodies are! so stay tuned for that this upcoming month because running and nutrition are taking center stage. and not to worry, I'll still be sure to talk about the little things, business as usual!

I love it when random people compliment you on insecurities that you once had. I remember hating my legs until someone told me they wished they could as toned as I was, and I was shocked because I had never thought of them that way. Also, getting paid+runner's high has to be two of the best feelings ever!
